About Us

The company was established in the 1870s by Charles Adams Daw and we still manage many of the buildings built by the Daw family in Kensington & Chelsea. A brief history of the company is to be found towards the end of this website. We look after buildings in other parts of Central London but, so that regular visits do not become a problem, we try to ensure that properties we manage are not too far away. In reality, this means that most of the buildings we manage are located less than five miles from our offices.

We also have a large number of experienced contractions on our books, many of whom are available to cope with emergencies on a 24-hour basis. Many members of our staff live in blocks of flats themselves and are aware of the particuler problems that flats-dwellers have to face.

Our Services

OUR MANAGEMENT SERVICES are in line with the Code of Practice of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and cover the following: Acting as the client's agent in all matters relating to the building. In particular, making periodic visits to inspect the property as to its general condition and to ensure proper day-to-day running and a high standard of maintenance, with particular reference to cleaning, rubbish removal, lighting and so - on. Dealing with periodic repairs to the structure, plant, fixtures, fittings and equipment. Arranging and supervising maintenance contracts for all plant and equipment. Attending to normal routine management enquiries from tenants, lessees or their agents and supplying such information and detail as lessees and recognised tenants associations are entitled to. Submitting demands and collecting ground rent and/or service charges at appropriate intervals. Chasing up lessees/tenants at appropriate intervals and instructing solicitors in relation to unpaid rent or service charges and other matters. Employing, paying and supervising (on the client's behalf) staff such as house managers, porters, handymen, caretakers, cleaners etc. Making payments to suppliers, contractors, local authorities, professional advisors, insurers and others as may be appropriate.

OUR SURVEYING SERVICES can be provided to our clients at competitive rates. We have our own team of qualified and experienced Surveyors who can arrange and prepare budgets, write specifications, send out all statutory notices and consult with Lessees as required under the Commonhold & Leasehold Reform Act, order and supervise the works in progress, maintain quality and cost control under the JCT guidelines and liaise with other professional consultants such as structural or services engineers, where required.

The team comprises: Michael Holland (D) & Neil Garrett.

OUR ACCOUNTING SERVICES Department has a staff of three with over 50 years experience in traditional book-keeping and accounting procedures. In addition our state of the art computer systems enable us to produce detailed reports tailored to our client’s needs. The department supports our property managers and surveyors in efficiently dealing with all financial transactions.

The team comprises: David Beasley (D), Glenville Ferdinands & Marek Pinkowicz.

OUR INSURANCE SERVICES. Our sister company C A Daw & Son (Insurance Services) Ltd also offer a range of insurance services for our clients to cover buildings, lifts, boilers, public, Employers & Director’s Liability, Legal & Professional Indemnity. These services are regulated by the FSA.

Our Team

JEREMY LINDON – Managing Director
After starting his career in the Stock Exchange Jeremy, who has connections with the Daw family, joined the company in 1967 as a junior and worked his way through the company until buying it from the Daw family in 1996. He currently works three days per week dealing mostly with our client’s Company Secretarial duties and legal matters.

ALAN CHANDLER – Director & Company Secretary
Alan studied Economics & Law and then went into teaching. He joined C A Daw in 1993 and quickly became a member of the Property Management Team. Apart from still overseeing the Property Management Team he is also the Company Secretary for C A Daw & Son Ltd and its associate companies.

MICHAEL HOLLAND BSc – Director & Building Surveyor
Michael joined the company in 1999 after completing his degree in Building Surveying. Prior to joining the company he was an Estate Agent and a Property Developer. He is now responsible for the day-to-day management of all major projects on our client’s properties.

DAVID BEASLEY – Financial Director
David joined the company in April 2004 and was promoted to Financial Director in 2007. His main role is assisting external auditors/accountants with the year end accounts for each property, whilst performing the day to day accounting needs for our larger clients.

NEIL GARRETT ACIOB – Senior Building Surveyor
Neil joined the company in 1996 following some 40 years in the construction and property management fields. He now works three days per week mostly dealing with legal/surveying matters and minor works.
